Memories are associated with declarative memory, meaning that later in life you can recall images that take you back to that exact moment. During the course of my life, I have lost much of my childhood in memory; except for the memories that were created in Poland. My family is from the country--and during my childhood, I developed many memories while visiting my family here. With a curiosity about the past, I began to reproduce these specific moments in Poland. Babcia's Garden was created by combining three visual elements: Scale model as documentation of the environment in which the memories were created, staged scenes that include objects from the original moments of my childhood in Poland and archival material from my Polish family. Babcia's Garden is a film that plays with a childlike imagination, the tactility of memories and Polish culture.
